Grading is one of those things that nobody thinks about until it goes wrong. Water pooling against a foundation, a driveway that washes out every spring, a yard that floods every time it rains — almost all of it comes back to how the site was graded in the first place. Getting the grade right isn't glamorous work, but it's some of the most important work on any project.
I take grading seriously. It's not just pushing dirt around — it's understanding how water moves across a piece of ground and making sure it goes where it's supposed to go and stays away from everything it's not supposed to touch.

A good building pad starts with the right cut and fill. You want it level, compacted, and draining away from where the structure will sit. I've done building pads for homes, garages, shops, barns, and manufactured home placements across the Helena area. A lot of grading calls I get are for properties that were graded poorly the first time — water draining toward the house instead of away from it, low spots that turn into ponds after every rain, driveways that erode because they weren't crowned correctly. I'll walk the property with you, figure out where the water is coming from and where it needs to go, and grade it so the problem actually goes away instead of just moving somewhere else.
