Standing water, soggy yards, flooded basements — I fix drainage problems permanently with solutions built to last.
Water problems don't fix themselves. A low spot that floods every spring, a foundation that stays wet, a driveway that washes out after every rain — if you've been dealing with it for more than one season, it's time to actually fix it. Most drainage problems have a real solution. The key is figuring out where the water is actually coming from and what it takes to move it somewhere it won't cause damage.
I've fixed drainage problems on residential properties, rural acreage, driveways, and commercial sites around the Helena area. Every situation is different, but the approach is the same — walk the property, trace the water, figure out the actual cause, and build a fix that lasts more than one season.
I handle all the common drainage solutions for residential and rural properties.
A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that collects water from a saturated area and carries it somewhere it can drain away. They're one of the most effective solutions for wet yards, soggy areas near foundations, and hillside seepage. I dig them to the right depth, grade them correctly so the water actually flows, and outlet them somewhere it won't just create a new problem.
Sometimes the fix is simpler than a pipe — a properly shaped swale can collect surface runoff and carry it away from the problem area without any buried infrastructure. I can grade swales and diversion channels that redirect water around structures, across driveways, or to a safe outlet on the property. Done right, they're low-maintenance and effective for decades.
Undersized or failing culverts are a common cause of driveway and road flooding. If your culvert is crushed, plugged, or too small to handle the flow from the drainage area above it, it's going to keep washing out your crossing. I install and replace culverts sized to actually handle the flow — not just whatever happens to be on the truck.
I start by walking the property and following the water. Where is it coming from? Where does it go when it rains? Where is it ending up that it shouldn't be? Once I understand the full picture, I can tell you what the real fix is — not just a band-aid that moves the problem somewhere else. I'll explain what I'd do and why, give you a straight quote, and not touch anything until you're comfortable with the plan.
